A Polished Living Room Design: The Reveal!

We are excited to share one of our latest projects – this sophisticated living room design.

Here is the second blog in our three day series. If you missed part 1 yesterday, you can click here to read all about the planning process of this project. The challenge was to make this room cozy and relaxed, yet sophisticated and pretty. The homeowners have great taste and a modern aesthetic so we wanted to make sure that their style was reflected in the living room design.

Here is a photo from our initial visit when the room had a dark rug, glass table and media console. While the console was pretty, it was small and a little dark for the room. The fan came with the house so it needed to be replaced too. In order to maximize the budget, the sofa had to stay for now, but since it was a good shape with clean lines, we knew we could make it work in the room!

The homeowners ordered a built in unit and here is how it turned out:

We met up again in early spring and was excited to start working together. If you missed yesterdays blog about the design and planning process you can read it here.

Here is how the room looks now!

By adding lots of white room is bright and inviting.

Black and white elements details adds a crisp modern feeling while the restrained color palette has a traditional and elegant feel.

The accessories we added gave the space an inviting and lived-in feeling .

It was important for the family to have an added workspace. At the same time, we wanted that nook to look as a natural part of the room and not an office corner. We selected a wishbone chair to add a sculptural element to the room. We also love adding real texture such as wood to a space to make it feel substantial and grounded.

We layered in decorative items on the shelves to make the space feel beautiful and inviting.

We added a picture in the nook that holds the computer, so when its not being used, it just looks like a part of the beautiful built in unit.
