Hi everyone!
So we have a new exciting year ahead of us! As designers, we are looking at what 2019 is bringing to the table as far as design trends go. If you follow us on Facebook and Instagram, you know that we were just up in Atlanta at AmericasMart to see what the vendors are up to, and we came back feeling inspired and ready to add some of our finds to our upcoming design projects for this year. Here are some of our favorite 2019 home design trends we wanted to share with you all.
Dusky Undertones
Overall, this year we will continue to see pastels as well as neutrals but they will all have in common a dusky undertone. So in other words, crisps colors are not where we are heading this year. Instead, keep the colors somewhat moody and subdued.
As for the color of 2019, Pantone went from Violet (the color of 2018) to Coral.
We have tried to sift through and consolidate the trends we have seen and also linked up a few accent furniture pieces and some accessories that you can easily incorporate in your home without breaking the bank.
Think Wavy and Swirly
Forget about sharp corners and think soft swirly shapes in furniture and accessories. These playful shapes are a fun addition to our traditional shapes like square and rectangle. We see it in furniture shapes such as coffee tables, sofas, armchairs and smaller décor items.
See Vertical rather than Horizontal
One area where this is easily recognizable is in tiling. instead of aligning horizontally, we go up and vertical. We love subway tile like most do and this makes it an interesting twist to the traditional way we are used to seeing subway tile on our walls.
Smooth as Butter
Antique gold or brass are still going strong this year but we are seeing more of the matte, buttery brass rather than the shiny polished brass. This translates especially in the home hardware department for your kitchen and bath in regard to pulls and knobs.
Sophistication with Contrast Piping
We love contrast piping in clothing so why not incorporate it in your home decor as well. Many say “think Chanel” with the classic white or neutral shade and black piping in both jackets and shoes. You can go all the way and paint your trim black or just add a throw pillow or two and you will have accomplished the look.
Give me some Fringe
I think we all own “that” pair of statement fringe earrings these days. Now incorporate this in your décor as well. Think lampshades, pillows and poufs. Add a fringe and you are super trendy this year.
Choose Channeling
It’s all in the details and this is for sure one area that adds interest to any décor item or furnishing. Channeling offers that little extra something something that can make a décor piece extra appealing to the eye.
These are just a few of the major 2019 home decor trends we see for this year. We will see where and what we will end up using ourselves in our homes and our projects. We wish you “Happy Experimenting” in your own homes!!!
Have a happy day everyone!!!
