Hi everyone,
I hope as you read this that you are keeping well, staying at home and keeping up to date with what is happening in the world but also have that time to appreciate some quality time with family.
Last week, we shared some pictures from our kitchen renovation projects so this week, we would like to share some more details from some past bathroom projects.
Bathroom renos are, let’s be honest, not so fun to live through…. They are however, a lot of fun to design. The difference between entering an old dated bathroom to a new fresh looking bathroom is just the nicest feeling. We always try and keep any bathroom design crisp and clean but at the same time transmit a calm feeling like as if you went to a spa. Add a nice aromatic candle or diffuser and “BOOM” you have that spa feeling whenever you need it. Let’s face it, these days I am really appreciating a calm bath at night to relax and reflect.
Plantation Bathroom Remodel #1 – “Green and Serene”
This first bathroom remodel was a complete gut job with the plumbing placement remained the same. The biggest difference was the change from a VERY deep dark step-down shower to a new modern white bathtub and a new vanity.
Before
After
The old vanity was pretty much falling apart and the storage was not enough with small drawers and one large lower cabinet with no shelves inside. We swapped to a vanity with two large deep drawers that holds A LOT of stuff. By having lots of storage, the vanity top can be kept nice and clean and clutter free. All those little items like toothbrushes, toothpaste, make-up and “lotions and potions” can be hidden away.
This bathroom was very dark so additional recess lights were installed and two wall scones by the new mirror. This gave the room layered lighting so if you are taking a bath, you can just keep the scones on in order to have more mood lighting. We painted the walls with a nice serene grayish/ green from Benjamin Moore to contrast against the white subway tile and white baseboards.
To add some interest, we chose a patterned marble flooring which is just soooo beautiful and classy. Overall, a beautiful new bathroom to be enjoyed for many years to come. Oh and we were within budget!!!
Plantation Bathroom Remodel #2 – “Fresh as a daisy”
The below bathroom was a little bit more involved due to some re-configurations. The result, a larger guest bedroom with a new on-suite full bath.
Before
After
The budget for this project was VERY limited. We knew that labor cost would eat up most of the money so we had to find affordable options in regards to tile, flooring, vanity, plumbing and lighting.
The design for this bathroom is a little more Scandinavian in its look at feel. A lot of white (of course, hahaha) so in order to soften it up a little, we added an oak vanity and a light oak mirror above the vanity. We were also quite constrained by the size of the bathroom. It is quite small. Again, to save space, we went with a vanity with two large drawers to provide as much hidden storage as possible. We love these off the floor vanities especially in small baths because it makes the room feel larger and it is also an added bonus to be able to easily clean underneath.
To add a little interest here as well, we went with a white penny tile but used dark grey grout rather than white.
A new window was installed where the old door to the outside had been to provide much needed light into the new bathroom. We chose a frosted glass door between the bedroom and the bath to again provide each area with as much daylight as possible.
Again, we were very happy with the end result of this bath and extra little bedroom. Outside under the bathroom window (which by the way has a retractable blind for privacy in case you got scared), we planted a little citrus tree which is just so cute and it feels like it is part of the bathroom.
We hope you have enjoyed this little read and as always, we are here to help if you have a project that you feel we could add value to.
Since these times we are currently in are a little crazy, and physical meetings are difficult, we are still offering E-design services. We can still provide everything but the physical aspect of a project such as planning, space plans and sourcing of materials.
If you are interested in discussing how our E-Design services works please give us a call, 954-873-0680.
Take care everyone,
